KS150 vs KS200 vs KS250 vs KS280 vs KS300: Smart Lock Comparison

The KS range covers five smart locks designed for the New Zealand market. They share the same underlying lock platform but vary on form factor, connectivity, and access methods. Here's how to pick the right one.

KS150 — Smart Deadbolt

Compact deadbolt for doors that already have a passage handle. Cylinder bore retrofit. PIN, fingerprint, physical key. Bluetooth only — no WiFi.

Pick this if: you want to add smart access to an existing door without replacing the handle, and you don't need remote access from outside the home.

KS200 — Smart Lock

Integrated handle and lock in one unit. PIN, fingerprint, RFID card, physical key. Bluetooth.

Pick this if: you're replacing both the handle and the lock as one job, and you like the all-in-one look. Mid-priced option.

KS250 — Smart Lock

Step up from KS200 with a larger fingerprint sensor and faster wake time. PIN, fingerprint, RFID, key. Bluetooth.

Pick this if: you've used a previous-generation fingerprint lock and found the sensor slow or unreliable. The KS250 sensor is noticeably better.

KS280 — Smart Lock

WiFi-enabled version of the KS250 platform. Adds remote access via app, guest PIN generation, and access logs.

Pick this if: you regularly need to let people in remotely — Airbnb hosts, families with shared access, anyone managing tradie visits while at work.

KS300 — Smart Lock (flagship)

Top of the range. WiFi, fingerprint, PIN, RFID, key. Designed around the European DIN mortice standard, which makes it a drop-in fit for most NZ aluminium doors with existing mortice cut-outs.

Pick this if: you have an aluminium entrance door with a mortice cut-out, you want full remote access, and you want the most refined hardware in the range.
